Amid the pandemic and all the uncertainties that it brought along, Bengaluru-based artist Jaya Javeri took refuge in her craft.
The artist has picked a rather positive theme for her paintings, and for that she drew inspiration from the ordinary. “My paintings reflect the mood I was in during the lockdown, and it was definitely not gloomy. Looking at the fresh canvas lifted my spirits every time. I had become looking at things that I would otherwise take for granted with a sense of gratitude, “ she explains.
Her canvases, thus, are vibrant and full of life. From the rice fields of Kerala and sunflower fields of Karnataka to the Kumbh Mela that she had visited, all of these find a presence in Jaya‘s latest artworks, making them full of foliage and greenery.
The process, she says, was rather therapeutic for her. “The entire experience has helped me get through this tough time, and has been a source of positivity. I have realised that life goes on, and hope that eventually every thing will get back to normal. My paintings are a reminder that we shouldn’t take anything for granted.”
